Mission Statement N.W. Tennessee Cyclist
It is the mission of the North West Tennessee
Cyclist to promote the sport of recreational cycling, to advance a Healthy Lifestyle and build life long friendships. Being
a Faith based organization we believe in the scripture “Bear Ye One Another’s Burdens” so we take part in
several Charitable rides each year.
We are a diverse group of riders and welcome
any level of cyclist to take part in our weekly and annual rides.
Healthy Lifestyle
Recreational cycling is great way to reach
a much Healthier Lifestyle Goal. It is a great cardiovascular exercise that burns calories and puts less stress on your joints
and bones thank other types of exercise.
It gives you a Great feeling of accomplishment
and a view on the world from a bicycle is like nothing you will ever experience from a vehicle.
As a part of a healthy lifestyle we as
an organization always promote safety. We ask that all Cyclists adhere to traffic laws set forth by State and Local Law Enforcement.
We also request that each cyclist wear a helmet for his or her own safety.
Building Friendships
It has been the experience of many members
of this club that doing something you enjoy with friends enhances what you are doing to a greater level and makes you want
to stick to it longer because you enjoy it so much more!
We have a great group of men and women
in North West Tennessee Cyclist that range in Differing Levels of Cycling. All Levels are Welcomed and Encouraged to come.
During the Year we have the opportunity
to travel to different parts of the state and sometimes out of state to take part in cycling events put on by different cycling
clubs and charitable organizations. This is a wonderful avenue to meet new people that share the same passion as our club
members.
Weekly Rides and Calendar rides
Our club will have weekly posted rides
that differ in spring, summer, fall and winter.
(Please view our ride sections for a breakdown
of our different rides.)
Spring: this is
normally a time of new beginnings we start working harder for the upcoming riding season that is right around the corner.
Summer: this is
prime riding season we try to get two shorter rides during the week and a longer ride on Saturday. MPH as well as distance
is usually picked up during this time and we are also evolved in several charity rides as well.
Fall: our last large
group ride is in September and after that we start gearing down for the year. The fall is a beautiful time to ride in west
Tennessee and we do so until the doom of darker days and Daylight Savings Time ending moves our way.
Winter: this time
of year consists mainly of Saturday Morning rides and focuses as much around Breakfast and friendship as it does anything
else! We use these rides to mainly hold on to our base and just get out of the house! Some of our members are not cold weather
riders and choose not to ride this time of Year; the choice is up to you. You can still meet us for Breakfast!
Calendar Rides: other
Bike Clubs or Charitable organizations sponsor these rides. They are usually in different cities in the great state of Tennessee
or in one of our neighboring states of Kentucky or Missouri.
These rides raise money for all different
types of charities, one of our larger rides is the
Tour De Cure ride for the American Diabetes
Association. This ride is headed up by our own J.P. and is done in Honor of his son Jacob!
